My name is Jared.
I’m a musician, graphic designer, web programmer, and fan of classical literature.
I’ve been working with graphic design software since 2000 and applying it to the web since 2004. Most of my work was focused around gig posters, promo materials, and websites for the various bands that I’ve been in; most significantly my current band Champagne Sunday (2005-current). Soon, people began asking me to build websites and do graphic work for their businesses. I hacked away as well as I could with the websites, learning as I went along and trying my best to do their businesses justice.
In 2011, while living in our RV on tour, I decided to take my skills to the next level and enrolled in the online program at IADT, where I managed to graduate summa cum laude in October of 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Web Design and Development. My studies helped hone my skills in HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, ActionScript, MySQL, PhotoShop, and Illustrator, as well as give me a solid foundation in SEO, e-commerce, mobile applications, web marketing and analytics, and interface design; skills that I continue to develop on a daily basis.
While in school, I worked for several web designers (sometimes officially, usually unofficially), where I learned, by example, some great ways of doing things and some terrible ways of doing things. Both experiences have been invaluable to making me better at my job.
